Job goal: PROVIDE SECURITY PROCEDURES NECESSARY FOR THE PROTECTION OF PEOPLE AND PROPERTY WITHIN THE POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL DISTRICT.

Pay:
Column Base + .52

• The security guard will adhere to all local, state and federal regulations.
• He/She will adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the Poplar Bluff R-I Board of Education.
• This position will be under the direct supervision of the Building Principal. He or she is expected to work closely and cooperate with the School Resource Officers and all other school staff.
• He/she will present a positive, professional presence at school and at all school events.
• He or she is to show a kind, friendly and understanding attitude in working with students, parents, and the public.

• He or she is to be on duty at all school-sponsored events, supervising traffic and crowd control when requested.
• The security guard is to assist in directing traffic and patrol specified areas of the school campus. He or she will adhere to a schedule developed by administration.
• The security guard will assist local law enforcement agencies with investigating when requested.
• The security guard may on occasion be called away from these assignments to assist in handling other security problems. These problems may include break-ins, vandalism and thefts that take place in other school facilities.
• The security guard will keep unwelcome visitors from coming on campus.
• He or she will perform other duties as assigned including duties along with maintenance and custodial staff.

• Must be able to lift, carry and load equipment and supplies that will weigh as much as 30-60 pounds, 3-10 times per day.
• Must be able to climb and work from ladders, stepladders, step stools and to aid in directing traffic.
• Must have dexterous use of both hands so as to be able to operate security related equipment.
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors (outdoors in hot, wet and cold – below freezing weather).
• This is strenuous work requiring good corrected vision, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, running and the ability to work at all the school districts buildings and grounds.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators and other staff members.
• Must be able to read and understand written orders and instruction.
• Must be able to understand and follow up on oral and telephone delivered orders or instructions.
• Must have a valid state driver's license.
