Sign Language Interpreter in Poquoson, VA

Take your expertise in sign language and education to an engaging setting supporting students at multiple school locations! This full-time, in-person role is an excellent opportunity for dedicated professionals with a background in sign language interpretation or American Sign Language (ASL) teaching. Work with students in grades K12, making a meaningful impact while collaborating with a supportive team including a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) and Clinical Fellow (CF).

This itinerant position involves serving four different school sites, so adaptability and a love for variety will be key. Youll be welcomed into a vibrant educational community, starting in August, with orientation/training opportunities offered in July 2025 to set you up for success. The schedule follows typical school hours, from approximately 7:30am to 3:00pm, ensuring consistent days and a predictable work-life rhythm.

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Teacher in a K-12 setting preferred
• Ability to adapt to multiple school environments throughout the week
• Passion for inclusive education and supporting childrens communication needs
• Reliable transportation for travel between school sites
• Positive attitude, collaborative spirit, and commitment to student development

• Provide sign language interpretation for students, staff, and families within K-12 schools
• Collaborate with educational teams including SLPAs and Clinical Fellowsto support communication access and language development
• Contribute to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and student success strategies, as appropriate
• Adapt services and materials for diverse student needs across four different campuses
• Participate in trainings and orientation as scheduled
