Port Angeles School District is seeking a Para educator for a self‑contained Resource 2 classroom. This 6.5‑hour position, five days a week, works under the direction of a certificated special education teacher and is directly supervised by a principal.

• Work as part of a special education support team under the direction of the special education teacher, which may include supporting students in a general education classroom or special education classroom one‑to‑one or in small groups.
• Follow the day‑to‑day schedule as directed by the special education teacher.
• Take direction regarding instructional materials, methods and prompts.
• Provide individual and/or small group instruction in academic, adaptive, social/emotional, behavioral, vocational, communication, life skills and other areas as directed by the special education teacher.
• Assist and instruct students with personal hygiene, toileting, eating/feeding, and general daily living skills.
• Lift up to 50 lb. independently and assist with lifting students to and from wheelchairs.
• Maintain accurate student records (data sheets, progress notes, etc.).
• Follow prescribed behavior‑management programs and use district‑approved de‑escalation and restraint procedures.
• Collaborate and communicate regularly with the special education teacher and general education teacher regarding student progress and needs.
• Use assistive technology devices as directed.
• Assist with loading and unloading students from buses.
• Sanitize classrooms and equipment with approved materials.
• Maintain confidentiality.
