Bechtel operates through four global business units that specialize in energy, infrastructure, mining, and metals and nuclear, security and environmental. Today, our colleague's team works on diverse projects in nearly 40 countries. This position is for the Port Arthur LNG project.
Job SummaryThe LOTO Tagging Authority (TA) will report to the Lead LOTO Tagging Authority and manage energy isolation and work authorization permits on components or systems that are energized or have the potential to be energized. The TA will primarily work nights, with flexibility for day or split shifts as required.
Major ResponsibilitiesGeneral
- Support basic Startup Specialist duties including installation configuration validation and work package development.
Work Planning & Packaging
- Schedule and assist planning of CSU execution activities, including sequencing and resource requirements for assigned areas.
- Prepare Startup Work Packages and Test Work Packages for assigned areas.
Turnover Coordination
- Participate in Construction to CSU turnover walkdowns for assigned areas.
- Liaise with the Field Engineer to support component/system turnover.
Material Management & Quantities
- Initiate requisitions for field purchases and prepare quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Track field purchases and other purchases required for CSU.
Quality Control
- Perform walkdowns to validate that the system configuration aligns with design.
- Perform and/or monitor testing of equipment to assure conformance with specifications and compliance with test procedures, ensuring activities support schedule and cost.
ES&H
- Identify and elevate ES&H issues in the field and serve as a visible leader in good ES&H practices.
Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills- Commissioning experience in large-scale industrial facilities.
- Experience in LNG facilities.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead team members effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in high-pressure situations.
- Computer literate in word processing and spreadsheet and database applications.
- Experience on an LNG construction site, especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast (Preferred).
- Understanding of Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures (Preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of Project Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) such as Setroute, Unifier, Aconex, DSCS, PTR, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools (Preferred).
- Experience managing technical services subcontracts (Preferred).
The work includes field inspections and requires extensive walking on a construction site, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working on elevated platforms and uneven surfaces, and operating in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. The candidate must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress) and use appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
