CSU Electrical Engineer – Port Arthur, TX
Our client is seeking a CSU Electrical Engineer to work within their facilities located in Port Arthur, TX for an initial one-year assignment.
Primary PurposeValidate and verify the commissioning of electrical systems within an LNG facility. This includes ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements during pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and start‑up phases. Oversee contractor electrical team to ensure they are following energization procedures for the site and complying with the contractual requirements.
Job Responsibilities- Review commissioning procedures for electrical systems (HV, MV, LV).
- Review commissioning schedules aligned with project milestones.
- Coordinate with contractor construction, CSU Electrical, and IOT (Integrated Operations Team) teams for system readiness.
- Witness and oversee electrical tests (insulation resistance, continuity, functional tests).
- Validate protection systems, switch gear, transformers, and motor control centers.
- Witness and document FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SAT (Site Acceptance Tests).
- Ensure compliance with international and local electrical codes (IEC, NEC).
- Review Lock‑Out Tag‑Out (LOTO) and energization safety protocols.
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce commissioning safety standards.
- Assist contractor to diagnose and resolve electrical faults during commissioning and start‑up.
- Interface with vendors for technical support and warranty issues.
- Review commissioning records, test reports, and punch lists.
- Review handover documentation for operations and maintenance teams.
- Hands‑on experience with HV/MV/LV systems, protection relays, and power distribution.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and commissioning practices.
- Familiarity with LNG process systems and hazardous area classifications.
- Knowledge of LNG‑specific commissioning protocols and integrated system testing.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent required.
- 5+ years in electrical commissioning, preferably in LNG or large industrial projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent preferred.
- Commissioning certifications (e.g., BCxA or similar) preferred.
- Safety certifications (OSHA, NFPA 70E) preferred.
