Job Description
As an NDT Level I Technician, your responsibility is to perform tasks outlined in the Pinnacle Ultrasonic Procedures per the requirements of a Level 1 or trainee. Examples include performing specific calibrations, specific NDT and evaluations, setting up and calibrating equipment, and recording results, all under the supervision of Level II or Level III personnel. Pinnacle will continuously support and train you as you begin developing into a UTT (Ultrasonic Thickness Testing), MT (Magnetic Particle Testing), and/or PT (Penetrant Testing) technician.
Job Duties
- Perform field drafting onsite
- P&
- UTT, MT, PT support for Level II Technicians
- Red lining P&IDs
- Assist Level II in daily tasks - carry tools/ladders
- Cut insulation and install inspection ports
- Fill out/organize paperwork - JSA, UT packages, permits
- Log OJT hours and gain experience to test for Level II Certification
Accountabilities
- Obtaining UTs
- Grow into a Level II Technician within an appropriate time frame
Required Qualifications
- NDE/Instrumentation Technology preferred
- Field drafting, mechanical, or operational experience in a refinery or other industrial setting
- PCMS or other IDMS experience preferred
- TWIC card (current or the ability to acquire a TWIC card)
- Level I NDE (meets the required initial training and experience hours)
- Industry experience
- Ability to pass random drug/alcohol and background checks
Preferred Qualifications
- NDE or Instrumentation Technology Degree
- Internship using Level I skills and knowledge
- Exposure to process facility equipment
- CAD Certificate

Working Environment
- Conditions may include working inside and/or outside. May work around office machinery with moving parts and moving objects. Working near radiant and electrical energy. Working closely with others or working alone. Working extended or irregular hours and travelling by all possible modes of transportation.
Physical Job Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs and ladders, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle and operate motor equipment.
Tools And PPE Requirements
- Equipment used in performing the essential job function includes computer and related equipment, calculator, special instrumentation, hand tools, power tools, air tools, telephone, and automobile. Ability to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hardhat, reinforced toe shoes, coveralls, gloves, and ear plugs or muffs.
