Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager/Director, the RN Coordinator assumes administrative and technical responsibilities for the assigned unit of service. In collaboration with the Nurse Manager/Director, the RN Coordinator:
As applicable, will be responsible and accountable for directing, planning, and organizing the nursing activities on the assigned unit with focus on patient, physician and staff needs. Assumes responsibility for the unit of service on designated shift and coordinates activities of nursing personnel on other shifts as applicable. Functions as a resource person for staff members and service line area by assisting in necessary education of individual members of the patient care staff.
Manages and organizes patient care across multiple healthcare providers and services, serving as a central point of contact of assigned work area/service line for patients, families, and medical teams to ensure care is delivered smoothly and efficiently. The RN coordinator will be required to assist on the designated unit by taking patients, as applicable. Makes decisions regarding activities within the unit of services based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the Unit with collaboration with the Nurse Manager/Director in unusual situations.
