Business Unit:Terminals
Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers’ storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Diagnose problems and maintain a variety of material bulk handling equipment including belt conveyors.
- Assist in the transportation and movement of mechanical bulk handling equipment (Ship Loading).
- Assemble and install equipment such as drive motors, conveyors, and pulley assemblies.
- Perform certified stick welding and/or cutting torch operations as needed.
- Align machines and equipment for proper operation.
- Assemble machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures.
- Repair and lubricate material bulk handling machines and equipment.
- Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on equipment, and make adjustments.
- Operate a variety of equipment such as cutting torch, welder, forklift, hand tools and electric meters.
- Lubricate moving parts, examine and operate repaired equipment to verify equipment conformance to specifications.
- Perform activities of co‑workers as directed.
- Compliance with all Company Safety Rules and Regulations while performing all duties.
- Take direction and report to direct supervisor (Terminal Maintenance Supervisor).
- Provide oversight of on‑site contractors and ensure competency, safety, and productivity.
- As a member of the general maintenance crew, perform duties pertaining to the maintenance crew; grease/lubricate bearings, rollers, ship loader, belts, overhead crane bucket, crane cable repairs, etc.
- Participate in Ship loading operations as needed.
- Other functions as trained and assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements include:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- 1‑3 years’ experience.
Skills And Abilities
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment for assigned tasks and report damaged protective equipment and unsafe conditions to Terminal Supervisor.
- Able to work at different work locations when needed.
- Perform housekeeping and general maintenance as required.
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally.
- Must work shift schedule as assigned and overtime with little to no notice during the week, weekends, holiday, etc. as needed for operational needs.
- In order to appropriately perform the essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required.
- If required must be able to perform shift work, rotating day/night.
- You will be subject to the on‑call schedule and must respond to emergency call‑outs as scheduled.
- Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers and must be willing to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment.
- Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
