HCA Healthcare Pathology Services and their West Florida Division is seeking an Associate Pathologist to be based at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL.

HCA Healthcare Pathology Services employs over 200 board certified multispecialty pathologists nationwide and provides professional services to over 100 HCA Healthcare owned hospitals as well as commercial clients. Our physician partners are a key component to our success and we work closely with them to achieve the most favorable patient outcomes.

Qualified Candidates:

• AP/CP certification or board eligibility

• Comfortable with the full scope of AP and CP for community hospital practice

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Active Florida Medical License or eligible to obtain

Pathology Volume/Cases:

• Surgical volumes - approximately 4,000 per year

• Non-gyn cytology - 1,000 per year

• Procedures (frozen sections and rapid on site assessments) - less than 10 per week

• Peripheral smears - approximately 5 per week

• Blood bank reviews - less than 1 per week

• Fawcett has approximately 250 beds with a variety of anatomic pathology specimens including breast, colorectal, thoracic, urologic and bone marrow specimens.

• The practice consists of two pathologists who also remotely cover the surgical and cytology volumes at HCA Florida Englewood hospital (100 beds with approximately 1,400 surgical specimens and 100 non-gyn cytology specimens per year). No gyn cytology or autopsy coverage.

• Oversight of the laboratories within the Free Standing Emergency Departments associated with the two hospitals
