About the Role
As a Grossing Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the preparation and description of surgical specimens for microscopic examination. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specimen Handling:
Ensure proper accessioning, labeling, and integrity of specimens upon receipt. - Dissection and Description:
Perform gross description and dissection of specimens, documenting anatomical features, dimensions, and abnormal findings. - Tissue Preparation:
Select and prepare tissue samples for slide preparation, including photographing and diagramming specimens as necessary. - Quality Assurance:
Maintain accurate records, perform quality control procedures, and ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards. - Collaboration:
Work closely with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate processing of specimens.
- Competitive Compensation:
Hourly rate starting at $40.00/hr, with potential for higher pay based on experience. - Shift Differential:

- Education:
Associate's degree in biology or chemistry, or successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited histotechnology program. - Licensing:
New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician or Histological Technician license. - Experience:
At least 1 year of experience in grossing preferred; however, training will be provided for candidates with relevant educational backgrounds.
