Aboutthe Role
This role is learned on the job. Training takes a full season. You will work closely with senior leaders to learn how to plan, run, and complete parking lot line marking projects safely, accurately, and on time.
The first 5 months are a training and probation period. During this time, you will learn:
- Reading drawings and layouts
- Measuring and marking parking lots
- Running crews and keeping jobs productive
- Using and maintaining equipment
- Working with customers
- Basic scheduling and job tracking
- Read drawings and turn them into accurate parking lot layouts
- Measure from curbs, buildings, and survey points
- Chalk and review layouts before paint is applied
- Operate and troubleshoot line painting and removal equipment
- Lead and support crew members on site
- Keep jobs moving safely and efficiently
- Handle basic customer questions and concerns on site
- Track completed jobs and provide job details to the office
- Follow all safety rules and company procedures
By the end of the first 5 months, you should be able to:
Layout & Marking- Accurately transfer drawings to the ground
- Measure and mark parking lots with minimal errors
- Review and correct layouts before painting
- Operate Graco airless sprayers and Grindlazer equipment
- Identify common equipment issues
- Make basic repairs or problem-solve in the field
- Give clear direction to the crew
- Keep work moving efficiently
- Address issues or conflicts early
- Motivate the crew to finish jobs correctly and on time
- Represent the company professionally on site
- Receive positive customer feedback
- Handle basic scheduling or service questions
- Help schedule and reschedule jobs
- Track completed work accurately
- Provide correct job details for invoicing
- Complete daily job records and required paperwork
Requirements
What We’re Looking ForThis job is best suited for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a foreman, lead hand, or crew lead in a construction or trades environment
- Communicates clearly and respectfully with crew members, management, and customers
- You need to have solid math skills and the ability to do mental math.
- Strong attention to detail
- Previous experience reading plans and familiarity with construction plans.
- Works well with others and helps the crew succeed
- Takes pride in quality work and getting the job done right
- Is open to feedback and willing to continue learning
- Can stay calm, organized, and focused on busy job sites
- Is comfortable working outdoors and performing physical work
You must hold a current BC Drivers Licence.
You must be able to drive to our Port Coquitlam office - there are NO Transit routes to our location. From there we assign/you will help assign crews for work in the morning. You will drive a company vehical to the worksites.
Benefits
Compensation- $37.00 per hour
- Overtime and double time paid according to the collective agreement
- Paid every 2 weeks
- Applies from early December for 9 pay periods
- 80 hours of regular time per pay period will be made available
- Overtime and double time count toward regular time equivalents
- Schedule set by company management
- Vacation weeks are excluded from this program
Vacation & Benefits
- 12% vacation pay on gross wages
- 4 weeks winter vacation
- 2 weeks over Christmas (dates vary yearly)
- 2 weeks scheduled with management
- Union benefits through IUPAT DC 38
- Company cell phone and plan provided for work use
This position is subject to the applicable collective agreement, along with all company policies and procedures.
