About the OpportunityDo you enjoy working with your hands while finding solutions to challenges that often arise with the manufacturing of plastic profiles, Kostklip is seeking a self-motivated and innovative Morning Shift Journeyman Machinist who wants to be part of a growing custom tool & die manufacturing department. You would be joining an experienced team of machinists where you will work from 7:00AM to 3:30PM for a period of 3 months with the goal of progressing towards being responsible for the Morning Shift that runs from 7:00AM to 3:30PM.
Responsibilities- Running a CNC mill, wire EDM, manual lathe and mill, precision grinder, along with other common machine shop tools.
- Responsible for running the Tool Shop during the Afternoon Shift in a 24/7 plant.
- Create programs, set up and operate CNC Milling and Wire EDM machines, training provided.
- Interpret and understand drawings and other furnished specifications.
- Inspect parts to ensure conformance to specification and drawing tolerances.
- Work with a sense of urgency and prioritise tasks with little supervision.
- Collaborate with other team members to solve technical issues and maintain production schedule.
- Safely move parts and materials with the use of equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and protected work environment.
- Comply with company safety and work policies.
- Take pride in your work.
- Journeyman Machinist from an accredited academic program OR equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years experience in a machine shop setting.
- CNC experience including creating and editing your own programs.
- Experience with CAD software, "Solid Works" or similar would be a major asset.
- Set up and operating a Wire EDM would be a major asset, training provided.
- Experience with creating prototypes, jigs and fixtures would be an asset.
- Able to operate all common manual machining equipment.
- Able to work on your feet for several hours and lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Competence with all common machine shop ancillary equipment such as pedestal grinders, drill presses, belt sanders, etc.
- Strong oral and written "English" communication skills a must.
- Attention to detail and acceptance of responsibility and accountability.
- Confidence and ability to work independently AND as a team member to support our goals and culture.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
