Access Control Security Technician

We are looking for a dedicated and results‑driven Access Control Security Technician who enjoys hands‑on work with cutting‑edge security systems.
Job Description: The Access Control Security Technician will install, program, test, and service a range of security systems, including access control, intrusion alarms, E‑com, DAS, fiber/copper networks, and surveillance systems. Project scope will vary from small to large scale, requiring efficient, on‑time, and budget‑respecting execution. A TQ Certificate is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and test access control systems and related security equipment.
- Program and integrate access control, CCTV, and intrusion alarm systems.
- Set up, terminate, and test fiber/copper networks.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning security systems.
- Collaborate with project managers to coordinate project execution and ensure quality standards.
- Provide on‑site training to clients on system usage and maintenance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for correct installation.
- Commission systems and offer ongoing technical support.
- Mentor junior technicians and contribute to continuous process and customer‑satisfaction improvements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience with security systems (access control, CCTV).
- Experience with brands such as ICT, 2N, UNV, Axis, Avigilon, Kantech, Keyscan.
- Strong mechanical skills and proficiency with hand tools and test instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
- Valid security systems installer license or actively pursuing it.
- Manufacturer certifications (ICT, 2N, Avigilon, etc.) are a plus.
- IP networking experience highly valued.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Holder of a TQ certificate.
- Valid BC driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and documentation software (Adobe, Excel, Smartsheet, Bluebeam) is desirable.
