About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Quantity Surveyor to join their team, focusing on the financial management of high-rise building construction projects in Port Elizabeth. You will be responsible for cost estimation, tendering, contract administration, and financial control throughout the project lifecycle. This role demands a keen eye for detail, excellent negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of construction costs and market dynamics.
You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are financially sound and deliver value, contributing to the successful completion of impressive vertical structures. The hybrid model allows for strategic planning in the office and efficient site engagement.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for high-rise construction projects.
- Manage tendering processes, including pre-qualification of contractors and tender evaluations.
- Administer construction contracts, including variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Monitor and control project costs, providing regular financial reports and forecasts.
- Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify valuations.
- Identify and advise on cost-saving opportunities and risk management strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
- Professional qualification (e.g., SACQSP) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with significant exposure to high-rise projects.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Excel.
