About the Role
Our client, a forward-thinking primary school in Port Elizabeth , is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) . This vital role involves leading the provision of support for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive appropriate interventions and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the students themselves to create inclusive learning environments and develop tailored support plans.
This position requires a deep understanding of SEN frameworks and a commitment to fostering an inclusive school culture.
- Develop and implement the school's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) policy.
- Coordinate the provision of support for students with identified special educational needs.
- Liaise effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and support needs.
- Work closely with teachers to ensure appropriate differentiation and support within classrooms.
- Maintain accurate records of SEN students, including Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate with external specialists and agencies to provide comprehensive support.
- A Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- A recognized qualification in Special Educational Needs (e.g., SENCO Certificate, Masters in SEN).
- Significant experience working with children with a range of special educational needs.
- Strong understanding of national SEN legislation and best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external professionals.
