About the Spekboom Restoration Project

The Project aims to restore up to 100,000 hectares of degraded subtropical thicket biome by planting Spekboom (Portulacaria afra) on private land. This initiative will enhance ecosystem functioning, boost agricultural productivity, promote biodiversity, improve water storage, reduce soil erosion, and sequester significant amounts of carbon dioxide, contributing to climate change mitigation.

Position Summary – The Guardian of Land Integrity

Reporting directly to the Director of Land Enrolment, the Land Enrolment Administrator will play a crucial role in data capture, data management, record keeping, co‑ordination and liaison with staff and service providers, communication and reporting as it pertains to securing land for restoration efforts.

You will also play a critical role in capturing actual physical progress, as well as analysing and disseminating progress and performance data to key stakeholders, enabling informed decision‑making and ensuring the achievement of the Project’s strategic objectives.

The Land Enrolment Administrator will be a key contributor to our organisation’s transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement efforts. In this role you’ll be the focal point for team progress reporting as well as reporting on key metrics and data points demonstrating our commitment to secure land for the implementation of high‑quality nature‑based project solutions. Your work will directly impact our project execution goals, and overall mission to combat climate change through nature‑based solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Director of Land Enrolment, project managers and stakeholders to ensure realistic project timelines.
  • Acquire and review legal documents for compliance with due diligence requirements.
  • Assist in the preparing, updating and maintaining all land documentation, land maps and lease records.
  • File and maintain records of land ownership, Ministerial application, land surveys, property boundaries, legal agreements and other relevant information.
  • Update records of land ownership and confirm land claim status.
  • Liaise with service providers on service delivery and progress.
  • Respond to inquiries from landowners and service providers.
  • Draft and submit land claim request, file response and update information.
  • Work with other teams to achieve project goals.
  • Receive, organise and capture data in the correct data basis and format and track project progress.
  • Maintain all relevant land information systems and reporting tools for tracking key performance indicators.
  • Draft and edit land management plans.
  • Collaborate with team to gather information and ensure data accuracy.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders, project teams and external partners.
  • Regularly update schedules to reflect actual progress, identify delays, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Oversee and coordinate comprehensive due diligence processes, including legal, environmental and financial assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including legal, project development and environmental specialists, to ensure seamless integration of land enrolment with overall project timelines and objectives.
Experience
  • Minimum 2–5 years relevant experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of South African land tenure arrangements and applicable legislation.
  • Computer literate and proficiency in Microsoft Package, , QGIS or similar.
