Planning​/Process Engineer

Planning / Process Engineer required in Port Elizabeth.

Minimum Requirements:

• National Diploma or Degree in Engineering
• Qualified Toolmaker
• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ technical/engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of production systems, processes, and layouts in-depth knowledge of production processes, layouts, production systems and shop facilities
• 3 years’ experience / knowledge of a Tool Room, including tool design, tool layout, heavy press tools manufacture, pattern making, machining, works preparation and try-out section

• Knowledge of quality and audit systems (ISO, VDA, COP, OHSE)

• Computer literacy (MS Office); CAD/Microstation advantageous

Key Performance Areas:

• Provide technical support to production to develop and establish efficient manufacturing processes
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and cost performance
• Coordinate and facilitate improvement workshops (e.g. value stream mapping, efficiency workshops)
• Establish and optimise production processes, including tooling, layouts, and equipment
• Resolve production and process-related issues impacting quality or output
• Ensure process stability and readiness for production changes and new model introductions
• Manage change control relating to engineering changes (ECR’s, new models, process updates)
• Support costing activities for facilities, tooling, and equipment
• Conduct audits (quality, process, OHSE) and ensure compliance with standards and requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Purchasing
• Develop reports, process documentation, and performance tracking tools
• Drive problem-solving initiatives and implement sustainable solutions to root causes
