About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to focus on industrial equipment within their facilities in Port Elizabeth . This role involves the comprehensive design, development, and refinement of machinery used in various manufacturing and processing industries. You will work on creating robust, reliable, and efficient equipment, contributing to enhanced operational productivity for their clients. The position requires a blend of creative design thinking and practical engineering application, fostering a collaborative team spirit within the manufacturing hub of the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new industrial machinery and equipment from concept to detailed specifications using CAD software.
  • Create detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
  • Perform mechanical calculations and simulations, including stress analysis and kinematics, to ensure design integrity.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, automation specialists, and production teams to integrate components and systems.
  • Conduct site visits or client consultations (as needed) to understand operational requirements and provide technical support.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for existing equipment designs, focusing on efficiency and cost reduction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the design and development of industrial equipment or machinery.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor) and familiarity with FEA tools.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical principles, material properties, and manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage project tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
