Our client is seeking a versatile Industrial Engineer to manage and optimize facilities and operational processes at their Port Elizabeth site. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient functioning of the plant, focusing on layout, workflow, material handling, and overall space utilization. You will apply engineering principles to improve productivity, reduce operational costs, and enhance safety within the facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facility design, operational analysis, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze current facility layouts and workflows, recommending and implementing improvements for increased efficiency and safety.
- Develop and maintain material handling systems and strategies to optimize inventory flow and reduce transit times.
- Design and implement efficient production line setups and workspace configurations.
- Conduct time and motion studies to improve operator efficiency and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with the facilities management team on infrastructure projects and space planning.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations within the plant operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a focus on facility design and operations .
- Strong understanding of layout optimization, material flow analysis, and ergonomic principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software for layout design and simulation tools.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and waste reduction techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
