Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their reputable engineering firm in Port Elizabeth. This hybrid role allows for a balance of on-site project consultation and remote design work. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and supervision of structural components for a variety of construction projects, ensuring safety, integrity, and compliance with all relevant codes and standards.

This position requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to lead and mentor junior engineers in a collaborative setting.

• Perform structural analysis and design for buildings, bridges, and other civil infrastructure projects using advanced engineering software.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and technical reports for client and regulatory approval.
• Conduct site inspections to verify construction is proceeding according to design specifications and to address any unforeseen issues.
• Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Review shop drawings and construction submittals to ensure compliance with design intent.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration or eligibility.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering design and project management.
• In-depth knowledge of structural design principles , materials (steel, concrete, timber), and building codes (e.g., SANS codes).
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP
  2000, Revit).
