About the Role

Our client is actively searching for a skilled Design and Development Mechanical Engineer to join their innovative product development team in Port Elizabeth . This role is pivotal in conceptualizing, designing, and testing new mechanical products and systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and marketability. You will be involved in the full product lifecycle, from initial ideation and concept refinement to prototype development and production support.

• Conceptualize, design, and develop novel mechanical systems and product components using advanced CAD tools.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations, simulations (FEA, CFD), and analysis to optimize designs for strength, durability, and thermal performance.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for prototyping and manufacturing.
• Oversee the fabrication and assembly of prototypes, conducting rigorous testing and validation to ensure design integrity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing, throughout the product development process.
• Investigate and implement new technologies and materials to enhance product performance and reduce costs.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in product design and mechanical development.
• Expertise in 3D parametric modeling software (e.g., Solid Works , Fusion 360) and simulation tools.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and electromechanical systems.
• Proven ability to manage multiple design projects and meet challenging deadlines.
