About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in HVAC systems to join their team in Port Elizabeth . This role is integral to designing, implementing, and optimizing climate control solutions for a variety of commercial and industrial projects. You will be responsible for ensuring system efficiency, reliability, and compliance with environmental and safety standards. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills in HVAC design and a commitment to delivering high-performance, energy-efficient solutions within the Eastern Cape .
Key Responsibilities- Design and engineer HVAC systems, including air handling units, chillers, boilers, and distribution networks.
- Develop detailed design documents, P&IDs, and equipment specifications using CAD software.
- Perform load calculations, airflow analysis, and energy modeling for HVAC systems.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, ASHRAE standards, and energy efficiency regulations.
- Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and contractors during the design and implementation phases.
- Conduct site visits for assessment, system verification, and troubleshooting of existing HVAC installations.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design and engineering of HVAC systems .
- Proficiency in HVAC design software such as HAP, Trace 700, or similar.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and psychrometrics.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE) and local building codes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in design documentation.
