Location: Gqeberha

Our client is seeking a skilled Water Resources Engineer to contribute to vital water management and planning initiatives in Port Elizabeth . This role focuses on the sustainable management of water resources, including water supply, demand management, and flood risk assessment for the Eastern Cape region. You will analyze hydrological data, develop water management strategies, and contribute to the design of water infrastructure.

Working in a hybrid model allows for engagement with local projects while maintaining flexibility. This is a key role for an engineer passionate about environmental sustainability and water security, contributing to the well-being of the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct hydrological studies and analyze water resource availability and demand for various applications.
  • Develop and implement integrated water resource management plans and strategies.
  • Perform hydraulic modeling for rivers, floodplains, and water distribution systems.
  • Assess the environmental impacts of water infrastructure projects and propose mitigation measures.
  • Contribute to the design and planning of water supply schemes, dams, and related infrastructure.
  • Liaise with government agencies, water boards, and stakeholders on water resource management issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in water resources planning, hydrology, or hydraulic engineering.
  • Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, EPANET, Info Works).
  • Strong understanding of water resource legislation and policy in South Africa.
  • Experience with data analysis and report writing on water-related topics.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and contribute to project coordination.
