About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative Chemical Engineer with a focus on product formulation to join their research and development team in Port Elizabeth . This role involves the design, development, and testing of new chemical product formulations to meet specific market needs and performance criteria. You will collaborate closely with marketing, sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product launches and continuous improvement of existing product lines.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of chemical properties, formulation techniques, and product performance testing, driving innovation in a key sector for our company based in Port Elizabeth .
- Develop and optimize chemical product formulations for various applications, ensuring performance targets are met.
- Conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate raw materials, intermediates, and final product properties.
- Perform stability testing, compatibility studies, and other product performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to source and qualify new raw materials.
- Assist in the scale-up of formulations from laboratory to pilot and production scales.
- Document all formulation development activities, results, and specifications in detail.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering , Chemistry, or a related field.
- 3-6 years of experience in product formulation, preferably in industries such as coatings, adhesives, polymers, or specialty chemicals.
- Strong knowledge of formulation principles, rheology, and surface chemistry.
- Experience with analytical techniques for product characterization (e.g., spectroscopy, chromatography).
- Ability to conduct effective laboratory work and interpret experimental data.
