The Structural Design Engineer will join WBHO’s Engineering Department to lead the design and analysis of structural systems for a variety of construction projects, including residential complexes, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. This role is pivotal in translating architectural concepts into safe, cost‑effective, and code‑compliant structures. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage with clients, and ensure that all designs meet local and international standards.

- Develop detailed structural designs using BIM and CAD tools, ensuring alignment with architectural intent.
- Perform load calculations, finite element analysis, and design checks according to SANS and international codes.
- Prepare comprehensive design reports, drawings, and specifications for client review and regulatory approval.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and construction managers to resolve design conflicts and optimize constructability.
- Conduct site visits to verify design implementation, address on‑site challenges, and provide technical support during construction.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, fostering knowledge transfer and professional development.
- Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of design decisions, revisions, and compliance records.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including value engineering and sustainability assessments.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP
2000, or STAAD.Pro. - Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or similar BIM platforms.
- Strong understanding of South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant international codes.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for client interaction and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
