Automation Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Automation Technician to maintain and improve automated systems within their production facility in Port Elizabeth . This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of sophisticated machinery and control systems. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading automation equipment, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in electrical, mechanical, and PLC systems, contributing to a highly automated and productive manufacturing environment.

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated manufacturing equipment and control systems.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues related to PLCs, HMI, and robotics.
• Perform preventative maintenance on automation systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Assist in the design and implementation of new automation solutions and upgrades.
• Calibrate and test automated equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications in the system log.

• National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Automation Technician or similar role in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMI, and industrial networks.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
