Wireless Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Wireless Network Engineer to strengthen their team in Port Elizabeth. This role is vital for the design, implementation, and management of wireless communication systems, ensuring seamless connectivity for a diverse range of clients. You will be at the forefront of deploying and optimizing Wi‑Fi, cellular, and other wireless technologies within the Eastern Cape. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer passionate about wireless technology to contribute to a leading player in the South African telecoms market.

• Design, deploy, and manage wireless networks, including Wi‑Fi, cellular, and point‑to‑point systems.
• Conduct site surveys to determine optimal placement of wireless access points and equipment.
• Configure and troubleshoot wireless controllers, access points, and associated hardware.
• Monitor network performance and implement optimizations to enhance speed and reliability.
• Develop security protocols for wireless networks to ensure data protection.
• Collaborate with the core network team to integrate wireless solutions seamlessly.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in wireless network engineering.
• Strong understanding of wireless protocols (e.g., 802.11 standards, LTE, 5G), RF principles, and security.
• Hands‑on experience with wireless network design tools and site survey equipment.
• Certifications such as CWNA, CWNP, or equivalent are a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in the field and troubleshoot complex wireless issues in Port Elizabeth.
