About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to contribute to their petrochemical operations in Port Elizabeth . This hybrid role involves optimizing chemical processes, ensuring plant efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance. You will be instrumental in process design, troubleshooting, debottlenecking, and implementing process improvements. This is a key position for an engineer looking to advance their career in the dynamic petrochemical sector, working within a collaborative team that values technical expertise and operational excellence in the Eastern Cape .
Key Responsibilities- Design, analyze, and optimize chemical processes to improve yield, efficiency, and product quality.
- Conduct process safety studies, including HAZOP analysis, and implement recommendations to mitigate risks.
- Troubleshoot process upsets and equipment failures, developing and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop PFDs and P&IDs, perform process simulations, and conduct equipment sizing calculations.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to ensure successful implementation of process modifications and capital projects.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and operational guidelines for process changes and improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and mass/heat transfer principles.
- Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and process control systems.
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and HAZOP studies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, necessary for working in Port Elizabeth .
