About the Role
Our client seeks a seasoned Senior Geophysicist to join their esteemed team in Port Elizabeth. This role is crucial for advancing subsurface understanding through advanced seismic data processing and interpretation to support exploration and development activities in the Oil & Gas industry. You will apply state-of-the-art geophysical techniques to identify and assess potential hydrocarbon reserves. Based in Port Elizabeth, you will work within a collaborative environment dedicated to technical excellence and driving discovery in challenging geological settings.
Key Responsibilities- Process, interpret, and integrate seismic data (2D/3D) to delineate subsurface structures and identify potential reservoirs.
- Perform attribute analysis, inversion, and other advanced geophysical techniques to enhance subsurface imaging.
- Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers to build integrated geological models.
- Develop geophysical exploration strategies and oversee seismic acquisition programs where applicable.
- Ensure data quality and perform quality control throughout the seismic processing and interpretation workflow.
- Prepare detailed geophysical reports and present findings to technical and management teams.
- Master's or PhD in Geophysics, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in applied geophysics, preferably within the Oil & Gas exploration domain.
- Proficiency in seismic data processing and interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Opend Tect, IHS Markit).
- Strong understanding of seismic acquisition principles, wave propagation theory, and data processing algorithms.
- Experience with AVO analysis and seismic inversion techniques.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
