Environmental Manager - Mining

Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to oversee environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for their mining operations near Port Elizabeth . This role is critical for ensuring that all activities meet stringent environmental regulations, minimizing ecological impact, and promoting responsible resource management. You will lead the development and implementation of environmental management systems, conduct impact assessments, and liaise with regulatory bodies.

The successful candidate will champion environmental stewardship throughout the organization, fostering a culture of sustainability in the mining sector .

• Develop and implement comprehensive Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
• Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and monitor compliance.
• Oversee waste management, water use, and rehabilitation programs.
• Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies on environmental matters.
• Manage environmental monitoring programs and data analysis.
• Train staff on environmental policies and procedures.

• Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental management within the mining or heavy industry sector.
• In-depth knowledge of South African environmental legislation and permitting processes.
• Experience with ISO 14001 environmental management systems.
