About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Mine Surveyor to join their underground mining operations near Port Elizabeth. This role is crucial for accurately establishing and maintaining underground workings, controlling mine development, and ensuring volumetric calculations for ore and waste. You will utilize advanced surveying equipment and techniques to provide essential data for mine planning and production. This is a vital position for a skilled surveyor looking to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of a significant mining project in the Eastern Cape, ensuring precise spatial control deep within the earth.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct precise underground surveying to establish mine layouts, control points, and development alignments.
- Monitor and record excavation progress, volumes of ore and waste, and structural integrity of mine openings.
- Utilize Total Stations, GPS, laser scanners, and other surveying instruments and software.
- Prepare survey plans, cross-sections, and contour maps of underground workings.
- Liaise with mine engineers, geologists, and supervisors to provide accurate spatial data for planning and production.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain survey equipment.
- National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, with specific experience in underground operations.
- Proficiency with surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vulcan, Surpac) and hardware.
- Knowledge of relevant mining legislation and surveying standards.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in challenging underground environments.
