About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Control Engineer to join their manufacturing operations in Port Elizabeth. This role is critical for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced process control systems to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and safety of chemical production units. You will work closely with process engineers and operators to develop sophisticated control strategies, troubleshoot system issues, and implement improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and commission distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC).
  • Develop and implement advanced process control (APC) strategies to optimize process performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with control systems, instrumentation, and automation equipment.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to define control system requirements and safety interlocks.
  • Maintain and update control system documentation, including logic diagrams and calibration records.
  • Provide training and support to operators and maintenance personnel on control system operation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering , Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in process control engineering in a manufacturing or chemical plant environment.
  • Proficiency with DCS platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Emerson) and PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
  • Strong understanding of control theory, PID control, and advanced control techniques.
  • Experience with instrumentation , field devices, and calibration procedures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on system reliability.
