Transportation Engineer - Urban Planning

Our client is seeking an innovative Transportation Engineer to join their planning and design team based in Port Elizabeth. This role focuses on developing sustainable and efficient transportation systems to support the region's growth. You will be involved in traffic analysis, road network design, public transport planning, and multimodal integration. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, urban planning concepts, and a passion for creating safe, accessible, and environmentally friendly transportation solutions for the Eastern Cape.

• Conduct traffic studies, demand forecasting, and network analysis for road and public transport systems.
• Design road layouts, intersections, traffic control systems, and pedestrian/cycling facilities.
• Develop transportation master plans and feasibility studies for new developments and infrastructure upgrades.
• Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and municipal officials to integrate transportation solutions into urban design.
• Evaluate the environmental and social impacts of transportation projects and propose mitigation measures.
• Utilize traffic simulation software and data analysis tools to optimize network performance.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in transportation planning and design.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Proficiency in traffic analysis software (e.g., VISSIM, SIDRA INTERSECTION) and CAD tools.
• Knowledge of South African transport policies, standards, and planning frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to present complex data clearly.
