Senior Metallurgist - Processing Plant

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Metallurgist to lead process optimization and development at their key processing plant located in Port Elizabeth . This role is integral to maximizing metal recovery, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring the quality of final products. You will oversee metallurgical testing, plant troubleshooting, and the implementation of new technologies within the processing circuit. Working closely with plant operators, engineers, and R&D teams, you will drive innovation and ensure the sustainable and cost-effective operation of the facility, contributing to the company's reputation for excellence in metallurgical processing within the region's industrial landscape.

• Lead the metallurgical team in optimizing existing processing circuits for enhanced recovery, throughput, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct and interpret metallurgical test work to troubleshoot plant issues and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Develop and implement new process technologies and strategies to improve overall plant performance.
• Ensure adherence to strict quality control measures and environmental standards throughout the processing operations.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to implement process modifications and capital projects.
• Mentor and guide junior metallurgists and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

• Master's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mineral processing and metallurgy, with a strong understanding of comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining.
• Proven experience in plant troubleshooting, process optimization, and scale-up of metallurgical processes.
• Proficiency in metallurgical simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
