About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to focus on building services within their established engineering consultancy in Port Elizabeth . This role is integral to designing electrical systems for a variety of commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, ensuring functionality, safety, and compliance with all relevant codes. You will be responsible for the full design lifecycle, from concept to completion, working closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of building electrical systems and a commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient, and sustainable design solutions, contributing to a team renowned for its technical excellence and collaborative approach.
- Design and develop electrical systems for buildings, including power distribution, lighting, fire detection, and security systems.
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations using CAD software.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, standards (e.g., SANS 10142), and client requirements.
- Conduct site surveys and inspections during the construction phase to ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, mechanical engineers, and other project stakeholders.
- Perform energy efficiency analysis and recommend sustainable electrical solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical building services design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit MEP for electrical design.
- Solid understanding of electrical codes, standards, and low-voltage systems.
