About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a seasoned Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their prestigious team in Port Elizabeth . This role is critical for the planning, design, and analysis of electrical power systems, ensuring stability, reliability, and efficiency for large-scale infrastructure projects. You will leverage your extensive expertise to tackle complex challenges in power generation, transmission, and distribution, contributing to the development and maintenance of vital energy networks in the Eastern Cape .
The position requires a hands‑on approach and a commitment to engineering excellence within a dynamic, project-driven environment.
- Perform power flow, short circuit, and stability studies for high-voltage power systems.
- Design and specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switch gear, generators, and protection relays.
- Develop and review protection and control schemes for substations and power plants.
- Contribute to the planning and expansion of electrical networks, ensuring capacity and reliability.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on power system design principles and best practices.
- Conduct site visits for project monitoring, commissioning, and troubleshooting as required in Port Elizabeth .
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- 8+ years of experience in the power utility or related industry.
- Proficiency with power system analysis software such as PSCAD , Power Factory DIgSILENT , or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of protection relays , substation design , and grid integration principles.
- Experience with renewable energy integration is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
