Cloud Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Cloud Security Engineer to join their innovative technology team in Port Elizabeth. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing robust security controls for their cloud environments, primarily on AWS and Azure. You will be instrumental in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of cloud-based assets, working closely with development and operations teams to embed security best practices throughout the cloud lifecycle.

• Design, deploy, and manage security solutions for cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Implement and maintain security controls, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and network security groups.
• Develop and automate security best practices for cloud deployments (IaC).
• Monitor cloud environments for security threats and respond to incidents effectively.
• Conduct security assessments and audits of cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure secure cloud application development and deployment.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in cloud security, with hands-on experience in AWS and/or Azure.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, data security, and threat detection in cloud environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation.
• Familiarity with container security (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless security.
• Relevant cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security - Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate) are highly advantageous.
