AI Ethics & Governance Specialist

Our client is seeking a highly principled and knowledgeable AI Ethics & Governance Specialist to join their forward-thinking legal and compliance team in Port Elizabeth . In this crucial role, you will develop and implement frameworks, policies, and guidelines to ensure the responsible and ethical development and deployment of AI technologies. You will work closely with AI teams, legal counsel, and business leaders to navigate the complex ethical landscape of artificial intelligence, mitigate risks, and build trust with stakeholders.

• Develop and refine AI ethics principles, governance policies, and compliance standards.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for new AI initiatives and products.
• Advise AI development teams on best practices for fairness, transparency, accountability, and privacy in AI systems.
• Monitor regulatory developments and industry best practices related to AI ethics and governance globally.
• Develop and deliver training programs on AI ethics and responsible AI principles to internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and engineering teams to ensure AI systems meet ethical and regulatory requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Policy, Ethics, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in AI ethics, governance, responsible technology, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and their societal implications.
• Familiarity with relevant ethical frameworks, standards, and regulatory landscapes for AI.
• Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Experience in policy development and stakeholder engagement.
