Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Buyer for its Procurement operations in the Agriculture division for a fixed term contract. The incumbent will be responsible for driving down costs through focused purchasing and seeking the best vendors to purchase from based upon the best quality equipment suited for poultry industry.

This position reports to Procurement Manager and carries the TASK Grade T09. The ideal candidate will be in possession of Diploma in purchasing, logistics or equivalent and three (3) years experience in purchasing and cost saving initiatives. Exposure to the Agricultural sector will be advantageous.

• Monitoring and procurement stock for Stores.
• Cyclical orders and purchasing for farms.
• Monitoring budgets.
• Attend to adhoc purchasing.
• Follow up on purchase orders to ensure no hold ups with regards to deliveries.
• Cost saving drives.

• Attentive to detail with a systematic, methodical approach.
• Good negotiating skills.
• Practical knowledge of all aspects of poultry equipment methods.
• Good analytical skills and financial understanding.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in working with spreadsheets.
