Production Manager

Our client in the Manufacturing Industry is seeking a Production Manager who will supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in operating variety of machines to manufacture parts or products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

• Analyses work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
• Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules and requisitions materials from storage area.
• Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
• Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders with assistance from supporting departments.
• Interfaces with others in the organizations to ensure customer deadlines are met.
• Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
• Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
• Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
• Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost and cycle times.
• Manages plant efficiency and productivity and plans working hours and labour accordingly. This includes management of overtime.
• Effectively manages balance builds and leftovers as well as production driven Prod Var metrics to required targets and expectations.
• Ensures plant OAE targets are achieved.
• Responsible for production 5S expectations to requirements
• Manages and controls supply cost and MRO spend budgets for production department.

• 4 years Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Production Management
• A minimum of 4 years Progressive Engineering/Production Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
• Must have worked in Automotive component manufacturing
• Must have managed staff on the Production Floor before
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Knowledge of Project Management and Manufacturing/Office software.
