About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Geneticist to drive innovation in Diagnostics Development at their facility in Port Elizabeth . This role is instrumental in the design, development, and validation of novel genetic tests for a range of applications. You will lead complex research projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the advancement of personalized medicine. Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of new genetic assays and diagnostic platforms, from concept to clinical validation.
- Perform complex molecular genetic analyses, including DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, and genotyping.
- Analyze and interpret genetic data, identifying key markers and variants of interest.
- Ensure all research and development activities adhere to stringent quality control and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate closely with bioinformaticians, clinicians, and product development teams.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in genetics, genomics, and molecular diagnostics.
- Ph.D. in Genetics , Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in genetic research or diagnostics development.
- Demonstrated expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of population genetics, clinical genetics, and gene mapping techniques.
- Experience in assay design, optimization, and validation for diagnostic purposes.
