About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Mine Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained at their mining operations near Port Elizabeth . This crucial role involves developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures to protect all personnel and the environment. You will be a key figure in promoting a strong safety culture, conducting regular inspections, and responding effectively to any safety incidents.

This is an essential position for safeguarding the well-being of the workforce and ensuring operational compliance within a demanding industry.

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety management systems.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training programs and toolbox talks to all site personnel, contractors, and visitors.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership.

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Certified Mine Safety Professional (CMSP) or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the mining industry.
• Thorough knowledge of mining operations, hazards, and safety protocols.
• Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation.
