The Marine Logistics Coordinator will play a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end flow of cargo through the Port Elizabeth terminal. This position involves coordinating vessel schedules, overseeing cargo handling operations, and ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations. The role requires close collaboration with shipping lines, customs authorities, and internal teams to optimize turnaround times and maintain high service standards. Key Responsibilities- Coordinate vessel arrival and departure schedules to maximize berth utilization.
- Manage cargo documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customs and maritime regulations.
- Monitor cargo handling processes, including loading, unloading, and storage, to meet performance KPIs.
- Liaise with shipping agents, freight forwarders, and terminal operators to resolve operational issues promptly.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce dwell time and enhance operational efficiency.
- Prepare daily and weekly operational reports for senior management.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental standards throughout all marine logistics activities.
- Strong knowledge of maritime logistics, port operations, and international shipping regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in logistics management software and MS Office Suite.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and compliance.
A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) or Maritime Logistics Certificate are advantageous.
ExperienceCandidates must have a minimum of five years’ experience in logistics coordination within a marine or port environment. Experience with container terminals, bulk cargo handling, or intermodal transport will be considered a strong asset.
