Senior Transport Planner - Eastern Cape

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Transport Planner to contribute to their logistics strategy within the Eastern Cape region, operating under a hybrid model. This role involves the strategic planning and optimization of all transport activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability. You will analyze complex logistical challenges, develop innovative solutions, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance service delivery.

This is a key position for an experienced planner who can bring strategic insight and operational expertise to the table, balancing office‑based strategic work with remote operational analysis.

• Develop, implement, and refine strategic transport plans to meet business objectives and service level agreements.
• Analyze transportation data to identify trends, opportunities for cost savings, and performance improvements.
• Collaborate with operations, sales, and customer service teams to ensure seamless integration of transport plans.
• Manage carrier relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor carrier performance against agreed metrics.
• Develop and maintain operational models for forecasting, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the planning team.

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in transport planning and logistics operations.
• Expertise in logistics software, route optimization tools, and transportation management systems (TMS).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, suitable for a hybrid role requiring stakeholder management.
• Proven track record of successfully managing transport budgets and driving cost efficiencies in Port Elizabeth.
