About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Transportation Planner to join their dynamic team in Port Elizabeth . This role is essential for optimizing the company's transportation network, ensuring efficient movement of goods while minimizing costs and transit times. You will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all transport activities, working closely with internal departments and external partners. This is a prime opportunity for an individual with a strong understanding of logistics and route optimization to contribute significantly to the operational success of a growing business in the Eastern Cape .
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly transportation plans to meet delivery and pickup requirements.
- Optimize delivery routes and schedules using transportation planning software to maximize efficiency and minimize mileage.
- Coordinate with drivers, fleet managers, and third-party carriers to ensure timely execution of transportation plans.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any issues or delays, communicating updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Analyze transportation data to identify trends, assess performance, and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and company policies.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation planning, logistics coordination, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and route optimization software.
- Strong understanding of transportation modes, carrier operations, and supply chain principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- A relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is advantageous.
