Position Overview
Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses for travel nursing assignments at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
The successful candidates will provide comprehensive emergency nursing care across multiple clinical areas, including triage, trauma, high-acuity, and overflow patient care settings.
The Specialty RN will be responsible for coordinating and delivering complex patient care, exercising clinical judgment in dynamic emergency situations, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to patients across all Emergency Department functions.
- Perform patient assessment, triage, monitoring, and intervention in accordance with established emergency care standards.
- Manage patients in trauma, high-acuity, overflow, and triage environments.
- Deliver clinical leadership in complex and unpredictable patient care situations.
- Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff to coordinate patient care.
- Administer medications, treatments, and emergency interventions as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with NSHA policies and procedures.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and patient safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in shift handovers and interdisciplinary care planning.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Recent Emergency Department nursing experience.
- Current certification in CTAS (Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience working in Triage, Trauma Care, High-Acuity Emergency Care, Overflow Patient Management.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Schedule:
100% Allocation, 4 Days per Week, 11.25 Hours per Shift. - Must be versatile to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Modified or changing shift schedules.
- Any requested time off must be disclosed before the candidate selection process.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to travel and work in a rural healthcare environment.
Shared accommodations will be provided by Nova Scotia Health Authority. Pets are not permitted in provided accommodations.
Preferred Skills- Previous travel nursing experience.
- Experience working in rural or community emergency departments.
- Strong adaptability and ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems.
