The Role

The Infrastructure Specialist is accountable for aiding computer hardware and software systems which include communication systems, network hardware, data storage systems, operating systems, application environments, and network authentication systems. They also protect the organization's assets from internal and external threats to ensure the highest level of availability of network resources for credit union operations. This is accomplished by providing outstanding service to both internal and external members as defined by living and demonstrating the core values of the credit union;

Major Duties And Responsibilities
  • Accountable for network security by implementing strategies to mitigate risk to the network from internal and external exposures, by following policies, standards, and best practices, by monitoring system and logs, by logging issues, by following up on suspicious activity, and by staying up to date on current network security trends.
  • Accountable for the installation, configuration, product upgrades and ongoing aid of networking equipment including network routers, switches, and other network infrastructure systems.
  • Manage the maintenance, and security of WAN, LAN, Telephone, ATM communications, Active Directory and data storage environments to ensure effective operations. Aid Information Security, IT Support, Information Systems and Enterprise Applications by providing regional IT Infrastructure support on projects and tasks. Prepare environments for system installations. Maintain the integrity of network data by using network protection strategies including backups, anti‑virus/malware systems, security controls, and encryption techniques to protect credit union assets.

    Stay up‑to‑date on IT infrastructure tools and trends to provide recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Create and maintain network diagrams, documentation, and detailed network information for efficient reference, easy planning and fast troubleshooting of network issues. Complete forms and documentation that aid the policies and procedures for compliance, security, and maintenance of IT infrastructure. Provide the necessary documentation for the IT Implementation and IT Support teams to ensure efficient department operations.
