What you’ll be doing

This position is responsible for managing a professional team, processes, and systems while meeting and exceeding client expectations. This individual will engage in client-facing interaction, conduct professional communication within the organization and government representatives.

You will be responsible for
  • Responsible for process, systems, and quality assurance, and provide solutions for implementation of all three.
  • Perform complex tariff classification determinations, reviews, submit customs ruling request with CBP and provide opinions as needed.
  • Support classification needs from FTA projects, audit and verification programs, guiding and directing in areas of ADD/CVD and PGA requirements.
  • Create and generate internal / external reports; assure SOPs are kept current.
  • Analyze productivity, monitor team’s/ project’s quality level, address and resolve issues, cycle time and accuracy for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to drive efficiencies and implement process improvement.
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills.
  • Showcase your skills with Microsoft utilizing programs such as Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Foster a fast-paced culture leading by example in terms of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage the team to meet KPI's and deadlines.
  • To provide the highest level of customer service by leading and mentoring, fostering a positive and productive work environment and resolving escalated issues as needed.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Ability to manage a group of 5 to 10 employees
  • Assist with performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Assign tasks to team members
  • Assists with training and guidance of direct reports
  • Monitor work volumes of direct reports
  • Supervise team members, conduct team meetings, monitor attendance, and work schedules
What we need from you
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or International Business or similar discipline
  • US Customs broker’s license.
  • Minimum of 5 years classification experience with expert knowledge of US HTS classification principles.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Team Lead role.
  • Experience in application of PGA, ADD/CVD, preparation, and submission of CBP ruling requests for HTS classification matters.
  • MS Office knowledge in applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Ability to manage projects and process with minimum supervision.
  • Leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be legally eligible to always work for the Company.
  • Valid Passport and ability and desire to occasionally travel if required to other offices locations in CAD/USA/MEX.
