The mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining fleet road equipment including tractors, trailers, thermo-king units, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with all trucking regulations, maintaining accurate maintenance logs, and performing road rescue as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace, and complete repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, reefers, etc.).
- Perform preventative maintenance according to company standards.
- Document all repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities.
- Handle road service calls and perform road rescue operations.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to safety regulations.
- Manage inventory and maintain proper records.
- Backup other maintenance personnel as needed.
- Willingness to assume increased responsibilities and obtain certifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty diesel or reefer mechanic, or 2 years with Diesel Mechanic Certification or TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certification.
- Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
- Own personal hand tools.
- CDL A and DOT certification preferred.
- Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to read technical manuals and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and overtime when needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
