- Collaborates with certificated staff for leading, guiding, and coordinating with students.
- Interprets spoken language to sign language and reverse for enabling student and teacher communication.
- Interprets teacher’s ASL to relay necessary information to students.
- Monitors student interactions for accurate and timely feedback to the classroom teacher.
- Participates in meetings and trainings to share information and improve skills.
- Provides clerical and general classroom assistance (e.g., collecting data, correspondence, copying).
- Works under limited supervision using standardized practices and methods, operating within a defined budget.
- Utilizes resources from other work units as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.
- Education (Minimum):
Community college or vocational school degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signing Exact English (SEE); score of 3.5 on the EIPA performance portion or RID certification. - Certificates and Licenses
: ASL or SEE Interpreter Certification; must pass EIPA written test with score ≥4.0 or RID national interpreter certification. - Experience
:
Job-related experience within a specialized field is required. - Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
:
Proficiency in ASL or SEE; ability to prepare accurate records; ability to communicate with diverse groups; problem‑solving and equipment operation skills. - Required Testing

:
Washington State Patrol and FBI Fingerprint Background Clearance.
